Salary: $26.50 per hour; The gross salary paid is subject to applicable Federal and Provincial income taxes and other statutory deductions such as EI and CPP.
Vacation: 4% of the gross salary
Hours of Work: 32.0-44.0 Hours a week. Overtime rate (X1.5) applicable after 44 hours of work per week

Position description & duties:  An Automotive Painter works on the surface of motor vehicles and restores vehicle finishes, including removing exterior trim and hardware, matching colors and mixing paints, and preparing surfaces for painting. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Remove exterior trim and hardware.
  • Remove sub-coating.
  • Match colors and mix paints.
  • Prepare metal surfaces for painting by sanding and masking.
  • Apply primers, primer surfacers, clearcoats and urethanes.
  • Clean and polish painted surfaces, including removing and replacing decals.
  • Apply undercoating treatments.

Specific Job Requirements

  • Completion of Secondary school is required.
  • 3-6 months work experience as an Automotive Painter in an automotive body repair shop or similar is required. Experience with spray guns, paint booths, and other painting equipment to achieve smooth and even paint finishes.
  • Basic English language proficiency required to understand work orders and to communicate with fellow workers.
