Salary: $34.50 per hour; The gross salary paid is subject to applicable Federal and Provincial income taxes and other statutory deductions such as EI and CPP.
Vacation: 4% of the gross salary
Hours of Work: 32.0-40.00 Hours a week. Overtime rate (X1.5) applicable 44 hours of work per week

Major Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate with senior technicians to diagnose and repair various vehicle systems, such as engines, brakes, and transmissions.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
  • Participate in comprehensive vehicle inspections to identify mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools to assess vehicle performance and pinpoint problems.
  • Interpret technical manuals and schematics to assist in repair procedures.
  • Ensure the work area is clean and tools are properly organized.
  • Adhere to safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Assist in communicating with customers to explain repairs and maintenance procedures.
  • Help prepare service reports and maintain accurate records of work performed.

Job Requirements

  • Completion of secondary school is required. Training courses in the automotive technology or a related field an asset.
  • The position requires registration with Skilled Trades Ontario as an apprentice. The candidate must be willing to register and complete a registered apprenticeship program in due course.
  • Basic English communication skills required for effective verbal communication with the customers.
  • 4 to 6 months of experience as an apprentice automotive technician, preferably in a dealership or service center environment, is required.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various types of vehicles, including gasoline and hybrid engines, transmissions, brake systems, electrical systems, and suspensions.
  • Comprehensive understanding of automotive mechanics, including the ability to interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and diagnostic codes.
