Position:  Structured Cabling Specialist
No. of Positions: 2
Duration/Type: Full Time
Location: Field-based, assignments across Ontario. Frequent travel is required depending on project sites.
Reporting office: 2500 Williams Pkwy, Unit 49, Brampton, ON L6S 5M9
Salary: $36.00 per hour; The gross salary paid is subject to applicable Federal and Provincial income taxes and other statutory deductions such as EI and CPP.
Travel & Lodging: All travel and accommodation costs related to work assignments are covered by the employer
Vacation: 4% of the gross salary
Hours of Work: 30-40 Hours a week. Overtime rate (X1.5) applicable after 44 hours of work per week

Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities

  • Design and install structured cabling systems (Cat5e, Cat6, and fiber optics) in accordance with Telecommunications Industry Association standards.
  • Plan and implement cable routing including trays, conduits, raceways, and other physical pathways.
  • Terminate and test copper and fiber optic cables using industry-standard certification tools.
  • Label, document, and maintain records of installed cabling infrastructure for future scalability and maintenance.
  • Ensure all work complies with local building codes, safety regulations, and telecommunications standards.
  • Install and configure patch panels, network racks, enclosures, and cable management hardware.
  • Coordinate with IT and network engineers to ensure seamless integration with networking hardware and systems.

Employment Requirements

  • Completion of secondary school is required.
  • Experience: 1-2 years of hands-on experience in the installation of telecommunications cabling systems, including:
    • Single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cables
    • Fusion splicing and cable termination
    • Installation of copper cabling (Cat5e, Cat6) and structured cabling systems
  • Technical Knowledge:
    • Familiarity with TIA/EIA standards for structured cabling and installation best practices
    • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals such as TCP/IP, Ethernet, VLANs, routing, and switching
    • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, floor plans, and cable layouts
  • Valid driver’s license to travel to various installation sites.
