Salary: $58,000-$60,000 per annum; The gross salary paid is subject to all applicable Federal and Provincial income taxes and other statutory deductions such as EI and CPP.
Vacation: 4% of the gross salary
Hours of Work: 30-32 Hours a week  

Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, preparation, and execution of a diverse menu specializing in Indian cuisine, including regional dishes, tandoori items, curries, and specialty dishes.
  • Oversee kitchen staff and ensure smooth coordination of food production, cooking techniques, and service standards.
  • Supervise day-to-day kitchen operations, ensuring consistency in food quality, taste, and presentation.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute catering orders and special event menus, ensuring timely preparation and delivery of high-quality food.
  • Customize menus for catering clients based on event type, guest preferences, and dietary requirements.
  • Liaise with front-of-house and event coordination teams to ensure smooth execution of catering functions and large-scale orders.
  • Develop and maintain standard recipes and portion controls for consistency and cost efficiency.
  • Monitor and manage inventory, food costs, and procurement of supplies to ensure timely availability and minimize waste.
  • Enforce strict compliance with public health and safety regulations, hygiene standards, and sanitation protocols.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate kitchen staff; delegate responsibilities and conduct performance reviews as required.
  • Collaborate with management on seasonal menu planning, special promotions, catering packages, and customer feedback-driven improvements.

Specific Job Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience cooking Indian cuisine in a commercial kitchen environment, including supervisory or lead cook responsibilities is required.
  • Completion of secondary school.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills in a fast-paced kitchen.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Indian culinary techniques and food safety standards.
  • Proven ability to manage staff, control food costs, and maintain consistent food quality.
