Salary: $32.00-$36.00 per hour; The gross salary paid is subject to applicable Federal and Provincial income taxes and other statutory deductions such as EI and CPP.
Vacation: 4% of the gross salary
Hours of Work: 30.0-40.00 Hours a week. Overtime rate (X1.5) applicable 44 hours of work per week

Major Responsibilities: 

  • Assist in diagnosing and repairing operating problems in truck systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension, axles, electrical and electronic systems, emission control, and air-conditioning systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication, and inspections under the guidance of a licensed technician.
  • Support senior technicians in overhauling, repairing, and reassembling engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, and other major components.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and computerized equipment to identify mechanical or electrical issues.
  • Maintain clean and safe work areas and follow company and safety policies.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, and service managers regarding repairs and maintenance work.
  • Keep up to date with new technologies and participate in ongoing training related to truck and coach repair.
  • Read and interpret service manuals, work orders, and manufacturer specifications.

Specific Job Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant hands-on experience in a truck and coach repair or maintenance environment.
  • Apprentice registration with Skilled Trades Ontario is required in order to work as an apprentice technician; An eligible applicant must be willing to register for it.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to work with tools, equipment, and heavy vehicle components.
  • Basic knowledge of truck systems including engines, transmissions, brakes, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to follow instructions, learn new repair techniques, and work under supervision.
  • Completion of secondary school is required; completion of basic truck or automotive service training courses is an asset.
  • Good oral and written English communication skills to interact with customers and team members.
