Hours: 35 to 40 hours per week
Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full-Time
Schedule: Early morning, morning, day, evening, night, shift work, and flexible hours as required

About the Position

We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and dedicated Home Support Worker to provide daily care and assistance to a 96-year-old female senior with mobility challenges. The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting the client’s comfort, safety, dignity, and overall well-being while enabling her to remain in her home environment.

Staff accommodation may be provided for the successful candidate.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide bedside and personal care assistance.
  • Assist with bathing, grooming, dressing, and other personal hygiene needs.
  • Administer medications as directed by healthcare professionals or family members.
  • Assist with mobility, transfers, and regular exercise activities such as walking and stretching.
  • Feed or assist with feeding and ensure adequate hydration.
  • Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks according to dietary requirements.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support.
  • Monitor the client’s condition and report any concerns to family members.
  • Perform light housekeeping duties, including cleaning, organizing, and maintaining a safe living environment.
  • Launder clothing, bedding, towels, and household linens.
  • Assist with daily living activities while promoting independence whenever possible.
  • Ensure the comfort, safety, and dignity of the client at all times.

Qualifications

Education

  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.

Experience

  • Experience as a caregiver, personal support worker, home support worker, or in a related role is an asset.
  • Employer is willing to train suitable candidates.

Work Setting

  • Work in employer’s private residence.
  • On-site position; remote work is not available.
  • Staff accommodation may be provided.

Target Client

The position involves caring for:

  • A 96-year-old elderly female
  • A person with mobility limitations
  • An individual requiring assistance with personal care and daily living activities
  • A senior requiring companionship and supervision

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities

  • Combination of sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Frequent bending, crouching, and kneeling.
  • Ability to assist with transfers and mobility support.
  • Ability to lift or move up to 60 kg (132 lbs) with appropriate techniques and assistance when required.
  • Physically demanding role requiring patience and attentiveness.
