Job Responsibilities:
The Personal Support Aide will provide compassionate in-home care and assistance to our father, senior diagnosed with dementia. Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Provide attentive, person-centered care and supervision in a safe home environment
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting
- Support mobility, transfers, ensuring fall prevention and safety
- May need to assist with feeding and meal preparation, including adherence to dietary requirements
- Monitor and administer medications as directed by healthcare professionals or family members
- Provide companionship and emotional support, engaging in meaningful activities
- Implement memory care strategies to support cognitive function and reduce confusion or agitation
- Maintain a structured daily routine to support stability and comfort for the elder
- Observe and report any changes in physical or mental condition to family members
- Perform light housekeeping duties related to client care (laundry, cleaning, meal cleanup)
- Ensure a clean, safe, and hygienic living environment
- Accompany the elder to medical appointments or walks, as required
Employment Requirements:
- Completion of secondary school is required
- Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certification
- Previous experience of 3-6 months in caregiving, particularly with dementia or elderly care, is required
- Ability to handle challenging behaviors associated with dementia in a calm and professional manner
- Physically capable of assisting with mobility and daily care tasks
