Position:  Truck & Coach Technician- Apprentice
Duration/Type: Full Time
Location: 8201 Lawson Rd, Milton, Ontario, L9T 5E5
Salary: $36.05 per hour; The gross salary paid is subject to applicable Federal and Provincial income taxes and other statutory deductions such as EI and CPP.
Vacation: 4% of the gross salary
Hours of Work: 30.0-40.00 Hours a week. Overtime rate (X1.5) applicable 44 hours of work per week

Major Responsibilities: 

  • Detecting and diagnosing operating problems in frames and steering mechanisms, engines, transmissions, brakes, ignition, axles, fuel systems, engine management systems, suspension systems, electrical/electronic systems, emission control systems and air conditioning/refrigeration systems
  • Adjusting, overhauling, repairing and reassembling engines, transmissions, clutches, rear ends, differentials, brakes, drive shafts, axles and other assemblies
  • Using various diagnostic equipment to diagnose and isolate faults
  • Keeping up to date on advances in technology and updating skills
  • Communicating effectively with co-workers, customers and service managers
  • Reading and interpreting owner/operator/manufacturer operating manuals and service specifications

Specific Job Requirements

  • 7 to 12 months of experience in a supporting role within the truck and coach repair field is required.
  • Trade certification for truck and transport mechanics is compulsory in order to be eligible to apply for the position of a Truck & Coach Technician
  • Apprentice registration with Skilled Trades Ontario is required in order to work as an apprentice technician; An eligible applicant must be willing to register for it.
  • Strong mechanical skills and an aptitude for working with tools and machinery are essential.
  • Basic knowledge of truck and coach systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems, and hydraulics. Familiarity with diagnostic tools and equipment is also beneficial.
  • Completion of secondary school is required; Training courses in the automotive technology or a related field an asset.
  • Oral/written English language skills with an ability to engage in verbal interactions with the truck operators
