Position:  Bookkeeper
Duration/Type: Full Time
Location: 1203 Roselawn Ave, York, ON M6B 1C6
Salary: $44,000.00 per annum. The gross salary paid will be subject to applicable Federal and Provincial income taxes and other statutory deductions.
Vacation: 2 weeks per year
Hours of Work: 35.0 Hours a week. Overtime rate (X1.5) applicable after 44 hours of work per week
Essential Functions / Job Duties

  • Prepare cheques for vendors, utility, tax and other bills.
  • Code, total, batch, enter, verify and reconcile the internal receivables and payables accounts.
  • Monitor office supply levels and reorder as necessary.
  • Complete and submit tax remittance forms, workers’ compensation forms, pension contribution forms and other government documents.
  • Keep financial records and establish, maintain and balance various accounts using manual and computerized bookkeeping systems.
  • Post journal entries and reconcile accounts, prepare trial balance of books.
  • Maintain an orderly accounting filing system.
  • Provide clerical and administrative support to management as requested.
  • Prepare other statistical, financial and accounting reports.
  • Perform other tasks as required.

Desired Skills

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks, MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook and general accounting software
  • MS Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Highly organized with attention to detail.
  • Moderate to high communication skills in English Language are required.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • College level education with courses in accounting /bookkeeping or equivalent work experience is required.
  • 7-12 months experience in accounting/bookkeeping field is preferred.
