Position:  Mechanical Engineering Technician
Duration: Full Time
Location: 17 Edvac Dr, Brampton, ON L6S 5X8
Salary: $65,000 per annum–The gross salary paid is subject to applicable Federal and Provincial income taxes and other statutory deductions.
Vacation: Two weeks per year
Hours of Work: 32.5 Hours a week

Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing engineering designs, drawings and specifications using MasterCAM, Solidworks & AutoCad.
  • Assist in the design of moulds, tools, dies, jigs and fixtures for precise cutting of parts & surface finish.
  • Devise, fabricate, and assemble new or modified mechanical components for products, such as punching dies, cutting dies, moulds & fixtures & Inspect their mechanical installations.
  • Prepare material list/BOMs and estimate costs for the production of mechanical components.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints and study sample parts to determine dimensions, tolerances & machining operation to be performed.
  • Assist in preparing bill of materials for projects/jobs and forward them to production manager.
  • Discuss changes in design, method of manufacturing, production and assembly, selection of material and drafting techniques and procedures with engineering manager.
  • Verify & inspect dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments such as micrometer, vernier caliper, height gauge, dail gauge, shadow graph and digital optical comparators.
  • Participate in the installation & repair of production machines.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 1-3 years’ experience as a Mechanical Engineering Technician/Technologist
  • Experience working with software: Mastercam, Solidworks and Autocad
  • College level diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related discipline is required.
