Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities
- Replace worn-out upholstery, springs and other furniture parts using hand and power tools
- Install padding and underlays and fasten covering materials to furniture frames
- Stitch upholstery materials by using hand and power tools to seam cushions and join sections of covering materials
- Lay out, measure, and cut upholstery materials as per the design specifications
- Tack, glue or sew decorative material on upholstered items
- Repair furniture frames and refinish wood surfaces
- Make upholstery patterns from sketches, descriptions from the sales staff
Education and Experience Requirements
- 7-12 months of experience in furniture upholstering and repair, manufacturing and assembly is required
- Ability to use sewing machines & other handheld power tools for upholstery stitching
- Completion of secondary school is required.
