| Hours of Work: | 32.0.0-40.0 hours a week. Overtime rate (X1.5) applicable after 44 hours of work per week |
Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities
- Preparing surfaces for painting or wallpapering by cleaning, sanding, and priming them to ensure a smooth finish.
- Applying coats of paint using brushes, rollers, or sprayers to walls, ceilings, and other surfaces.
- Measuring, cutting, and hanging wallpaper according to design specifications. Applying adhesive, aligning patterns, and smoothing out bubbles or wrinkles.
- Mixing paints to achieve desired colors and shades, ensuring consistency across surfaces.
- Repairing cracks, holes, and other imperfections in walls or surfaces before painting or wallpapering.
- Cleaning up work areas, tools, and equipment after completing jobs.
- Consulting with clients on color choices, materials, and design preferences. Providing estimates and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Adhering to safety guidelines and using protective gear when working with paints, solvents, and other materials.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Completion of secondary school is required.
- 3-6 months experience as a residential painter and decorator is required.
- Ability to work comfortably at heights, using ladders or scaffolding.
- Precision and attention to detail to ensure high-quality finishes.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and practices when handling paints, chemicals, and equipment.
- Effective communication skills to interact with clients, understand their requirements, and provide excellent customer service.
- Weight handling up to 20 lbs
