| Hours of Work: | 35.0-40.0 Hours a week. Overtime rate (X1.5) applicable after 44 hours of work per week |
Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities
- Preparing and cooking a variety of vegetarian or vegan dishes, following established recipes and standards.
- Ensuring that all ingredients are fresh and of high quality.
- Chopping, dicing, slicing, and preparing vegetables, tofu, and other plant-based ingredients.
- Cooking and grilling vegetables, legumes, and plant-based proteins.
- Using various cooking techniques, such as sautéing, frying, steaming, baking, and grilling to prepare dishes.
- Plating dishes attractively to enhance the visual appeal of the food.
- Ensuring that portion sizes are consistent with the restaurant’s standards.
- Adhering to strict food safety and hygiene protocols to prevent cross-contamination and ensure the safety of guests.
- Properly storing and handling ingredients, including perishable items like fruits and vegetables.
- Maintaining and cleaning kitchen equipment, such as stoves, ovens, grills, and knives, to ensure they are in good working condition.
- Rotating and using ingredients to minimize waste.
- Keeping workstations clean and organized throughout the shift.
- Participating in end-of-day cleaning and sanitation routines.
Specific Job Requirements
- Minimum 7-12 months of restaurant cooking experience.
- Completion of Secondary School is required
- Demonstration and experience of use of standard concepts and practices in handling/rotating food supplies
