| Salary: | $35.00 per hour; The gross salary paid is subject to applicable Federal and Provincial income taxes and other statutory deductions such as EI and CPP. |
| Vacation: | 4% of the gross salary |
| Hours of Work: | 35.0-40.0 Hours a week. Overtime rate (X1.5) applicable after 44 hours of work per week |
Major Responsibilities:
- Cut and shape porcelain/vinyl/ceramic/marble/natural stone tiles to fit around obstacles and into odd spaces and corners, using hand and power cutting tools.
- Study blueprints or take measurements for the surface and calculate the material to be ordered
- Determine and implement the best layout to achieve a desired pattern.
- Spread concrete or other aggregate mixtures.
- Lay and set tiles to create decorative designs.
- Align and straighten tiles using levels, squares, and straightedges.
- Apply mortar to tile back, position the tile, and press or tap with trowel handle to affix tile to base.
- Grout the tiles and wipe excess material using damp sponge
- Smooth surfaces with abrasive materials or tools.
Specific Job Requirements
- Completion of Secondary school is required
- Minimum two years work experience as a Tile Installer in a commercial/residential construction environment is required.
- Basic English language proficiency required to understand work orders and to communicate with fellow workers
